Unless you're specifically a 78/79 fan, many folks are drawn to '76 for the Ford Highboy for reasons previously mentioned. Having the handsome looks of a Dentside pickup combined with many of the mechanical improvements up to 1976 proved a mix of perfection; or close to it!
In 1976, Ford produced a whopping 200,000+ Ford 3/4 ton F-250 pickups (2WD/4X4). Only 2,490 of those, however, left the factory in 4-door form with 4x4 capability. Our 1976 F-250 4x4 Crew Cab formerly left the factory wearing Candyapple Red exterior Paint, mated to a 4-Speed New Process Manual Transmission. As life should have it, significant changes were made to the old girl, including look and power. Refinished now in a Dark Blue Metallic exterior paint with Charcoal Gray stripe package, the big lady now operates a 460ci big block V8 motor mated to an automatic transmission on the column.
Ordered and sold new by the Tower Motor Company of Coos Bay, Oregon on October 18th, 1975, our 4-door lady represents a nice example of Ford 4-door history.
