A spectacular example of one of the most sought after classic Ford pickups. 1979 is often considered the last year of the "great" generation of Ford trucks. A spectacular example of one of the most sought after classic Ford pickups. 1979 is often considered the last year of the "great" generation of Ford trucks. For 1978 and 1979, Ford departed from the 1973-1977 front end design language and opted for a square headlight setup. Was it a swan song? Or just natural progression? Whatever the case may be, this two-year only design was burnt into the minds of young boys everywhere (and tomboys too) and blasted on bedroom walls all across America. The original Bigfoot monster truck was born in '79. See our drift yet Daddy?
But in 1979, Ford introduced the first ever 1-ton F-350 with factory 4x4 capability. And the SuperCab version became one of the most elusive of the bunch. Only 1,682 factory 4x4 F-350s left Ford's plants, and when compared to total production numbers for the F-Series line in 1979 (over 70,000+ F-350s), you quickly understand why you won't find them on every street corner.
This 1979 Ford F-350 4x4 SuperCab is a 2-owner truck, with its most recent owner acquiring the truck circa 1980/1981; making this truck about as pure as the girl next door. Having spent its entire life in the State of Oregon, she's also a homebody at heart; never leaving the West Coast. Built on July 31st, 1979 and sold new on October 12, 1979 by Vic Alfonso Ford of Tigard, Oregon; this wonderfully preserved and equally rare truck represents a very late 1979 Ford truck, and likely one of the last to leave the production line before a change in body style for the 1980 model year which ensued shortly thereafter. Yee mother-F'in haw cowboys and cowgirls.
