It's like when Mama used to say...when that one walks into your life, you gotta go for her. Grab her and hold on to her.
Well this might just be the one. She definitely is 1 of 1. She's so unique, Ford only made one in this color of Chrome Yelow and Ranger Lariat trim. This one-owner 1978 Ford F-250 factory 4x4 SuperCab was ordered new by the original owner direct through the dealership.
Obtained from Fontana, California; this truck has been preserved and babied since its inception; not straying very far from where she was initially delivered and sold new by the Robinson-Erickson Ford Dealership of San Gabriel, California on May 1st, 1978. In fact, the former owner ordered this truck new alongside his two brothers; who subsequently each ordered one to use for their father's business in metal fabrication. The other two brothers ordered theirs in their own colors. But only one was painted Chrome Yellow. Opting for almost every available add-on from the factory, the original owner wanted the best of everything. And Ford was happy to provide it; as 1978 marked the introductory year for the top of the line Lariat package. It included everything from the Custom, Ranger and Ranger XLT trims; adding map pockets, plush carpeting, and extra-insulated headliners on the inside...and distinctive Lariat badging on the outside. All Lariat packaged trucks featured Ford's wonderful racetrack molding with TuTone paint standard. However, TuTone paint could be deleted if so chosen; as was the case for this truck.
During its lifetime with the original owner, a 460 V8 big block was swapped in; ensuring power would never be an issue for this beautiful, big girl. Like we said, she's the big girl Mama said never to let go of. That is, of course, if she decides to let you go.
The truck also features its original paint with one of the most stylistically fascinating and period-correct badassery stripe packages (painted) found in a late 70's era pickup truck. We didn't ask if the original owner was still married. But we can assume he'd still get just as many ladies today as he did in '78.
